PUPPIES IN ALL THEIR GLORY!

Sleeping is what we do most of, Namatiti in the purple, Ace and Butler in a pile.

Reva eating the bars, oh my!

Leaves are so entertaining!

Emma wants out, in fact they are all about getting out these days!

The Big Bear sleeps!

We're getting sleepy!

Hey, what's wrong with her?

Butler, also known as P-Diddy, has grown from the smallest to the middle of the pack, he is making up for lost time and has huge paws!

Frankie catches the Giraffe!

Namatiti in the arms of a friend

Puppies falling asleep, Rocky on the left in the back and Clifford on the right.

Reva shows her stuff, she's the spunky one of the group, full of all kinds of personnality and life

Reva looking on. Ace in front with the black tail.

Tweetie and Clifford catching some zzz's after conquering the Giraffe. They are the twins of the group, male and female and look the most like mom. Very sweet and not demanding at all.

Emma and Rocky horsing around, yes play fighting has become quite the sport these days, Emma is in the front of the pic.

Makena continues to nurse the babies, they are getting a little big and overwhelming, definitely a waning thing in the puppie lives.

Namatiti looks on, just a quiet moment in his life, he is usually full of play and spunk

The puppies are playing hard these days and getting their legs under them, it's great seeing them run and the glee with which they do it, much like 1 year old children running from their moms when they realize their legs work for them .

Meet the Puppies

Here are the pups. These pictures were taken on August 11, 2008 and give a general quick look at each pup. At this time there is no knowing how they will turn out in structure /conformation. We will be having the pups evaluated by Pat Hastings on September 12 and then will know which would be considered show quality or pet quality.

EMMA

EMMA - Emma was second born, the first female. She is the largest of the females and the lightest. On her chest is a white horseshoe she also has quite a bit of white on her toes. She is very healthy and has always been successfull getting her share of food.

FRANKIE

FRANKIE - The Biggest of them all! This is Frankie, he is the biggest boy of the litter. He is a sweet and gentle boy. Nice coloring, however he does have a kinked tail and therefore is not show quality.

NAMATITI

NAMATITI - Namatiti is another large boy. He has the lightest coloring. He rough and tumbles with the rest of them and is definitely boy.

REVA

REVA - Reva or Reva the Diva as she was called when she first appeared, she seemed to be quite talkative at first. She has mellowed out and has become quite inquisitive and confident on her own.

ROCKY

ROCKY - so appropriately named, he is big with the biggest paws of them all. He has a nice dark coat and is quite a love. He loves to fall asleep cradled in your arms.

ACE

ACE - Ace was born first of the puppies. He's one of the larger boys and healthy and inquisitive. He was the first to climb out of the puppy pool where they have lived up until now.

BEAR

BEAR - another of the BIG BOYS. He's healthy and active. His coloring is a little lighter than Ace's, however still a nice red wheaton color.

BUTLER

BUTLER - in yellow. Butler is the smallest of the litter, he is also the darkest in coloring. He is full of personality and rascally, always rough housing with his siblings.

CLIFFORD

CLIFFORD - THE BIG RED DOG, Clifford is oh so curious, another of the escape artists of the group, very inquisitive.

TWEETIE

TWEETIE: She is our princess, She seems to resemble her mom the most, smaller than her brothers and very beautiful.

Puppy at 1 week old

Here they are 1 week old! Makena and her pups are doing well. At 4 days old they had their dew claws removed, that was the most trauma in their little lives thus far. I had to wait out in the car while it took place, ugh! But they are healed now and doing just fine. All the puppies have gained double their weight and getting close to opening their eyes! Too cute!

We Have Puppies!

Yes, we have puppies! The evening of July 20th at 8:00 pm our first pup, Ace, was born. He was followed by 10 siblings of which all but one survived. The last whelp was still born, however we feel fortunate that the 10 are so healthy and beautiful. Of the 10 only one has a kinked tail and the all others are have no obvious flaws at this time. They have beautiful ridges and vary in color, 4 being dark like their mom, 4 being lighter like their dad, and 2 being darker than Makena.

PUPPIES ARE COMING

We've breed Makena to Ruger (see pic)

We've breed Makena to 'Ruger' MBIS MBISS BIF DC Camelot's Promise to Bakari SC HI.

Ruger is owned by Julie Schilling. He is a handsome male with a masculine face. Black mask and mascara. He is a champion in conformity as well as a field champion, to learn more about him go to this linkhttp://bakarirr.homestead.com/bakari.html. Ruger is currently the only Rhodesian Ridgeback in History to have won a Best in Show and a Best in Field!

Makena is due on July 19th approximately. We are looking forward to the puppies and will be taking applications.

WHO WE ARE

Ch. Imbuka Neku Makena Iman Red

We adopted our first Rhodesian, Makena, who is now 3 1/2 years old, in the spring of 2005. I had always loved the breed from afar, and when presented with the need to to get a larger dog, I jumped at the chance to get a Ridgeback. We were fortunate as circumstances would have it that there was a breeder in our town, actually a woman we knew who had just had a litter. We were fortunate that we found someone with true committement to the breed and it's standards and who believes in breeding for quality not quantity. We jumped at the chance to have one of these puppies and have never regretted it. We decided to keep the possiblities open to breed Makena and after really knowing her personality and temperment and type of dog she and Rhodesians are, we decided to venture into breeding. Makena received her Champion title for Conformation in March of 2007 with professional handler Randy Shepper.

We are a small breeder in Southern Oregon. We are not a commercial kennel, but rather lovers of the Rhodesian Ridgeback breed.

About MAKENA:

Makena is an African Rhodesian, her parents are:

Ch. Ukukhanya Neema Morgan. Morgan is out of Int'l/AKC Ch. Nomvuyo Tikkun, a bitch imported from South Africa by Dr. Shura Bugreeff. Tikkun easily completed her championship and was awarded BEST OF OPPOSITE at the Orange Coast RR Specialty. Morgan is sired by South African/American Ch. Karoskloof Bayezana Naka, a dog leased from Africa, by Dr. Bugreeff. While in the US, Naka completed his AKC championship and won WINNERS DOG at the Orange Coast RR Specialty. Morgan is a sizeable male, large boned, black nose-black mask, with sound structure, excellent feet and wonderful temperament. His coloring is Dk. Red Wheaten with no visible white markings.

Kulima Madison, JC, is a South African Import. Madison is a South African Import out of Kulima Kennels and Nomvuyo Kennels (owner, Janet Wang, breeder and International Judge). Madison is grad-sired by AM/ZIM CH Globe's Roving Red Regent (liver) and SA/AM/ZIM CH Nomvuyo Nozuko. Madison is a moderate size female, red wheaten with a liver nose and no white. She has a nice top-line, front and rear with nice clean movement. http://www.imbuka.com/

The Ridgeback

The Ridgeback is a wonderful breed for families, and active individuals who love dogs with great dispositions, loyalty, and an abundance of endurance energy. Ridgebacks make perfect running and hiking companions and are capable of running for miles. They are truly a loyal breed, very observant and a bit reserved, giving off a little bit of an intimidating attitude. I believe they are truly watching and taking everything in, nothing gets past their observation. This isn't always a bad thing! Ridgebacks make great agility and lure coursing dogs as well, really, apart from frisbee catching, the Ridgeback is a perfect dog.

To Sum it Up

Even though, we are just beginning our breeding program, we want to maintain breed qualities and the overall improvement of the ridgeback breed. We are honored by the love and devotion given us by our dogs and would like to share that same love and devotion with other families.
